Education and Training Programs

There are ... ways you can keep yourself and your family safe through education in prevention and hazard reduction in the home.  We specialize in educational opportunities for all ages from youth to senior citizens. 

Masters of Disaster curriculum

Age appropriate programs designed for integration into school classrooms K – 8th grade or as a supplement to a youth presentation. Topics include general preparedness, flood, earthquakes, tornadoes, lightening, hurricane, home safety, and the aftermath of a disaster.

Facing the Fear curriculum

Age appropriate programs designed for integration into school classrooms K – 12th grade or as a basis for a presentation to help children cope in uncertain times, like after a terrorism event or other catastrophic disaster.

Disaster Preparedness & Response

Demonstrates ways you can keep yourself and your family safe through education in prevention and hazard reduction in the home. The programs also teach you how to be better prepared if a disaster cannot be avoided and how to speed the road to recovery. We specialize in educational opportunities for all ages from youth to senior citizens.

Community Education Presenters

Provides a general overview, training resources and presentation techniques to present American Red Cross education programs available in the community including disaster preparedness and response, Keeping Seniors Safer and youth programs.

Keeping Seniors Safer

The Piedmont Chapter “Keeping Seniors Safer” program was created to assist senior citizens in making t make their home environment as safe as possible. This three-session program provides valuable information to enable seniors to remain at home with minimized risks for injuries, and increased overall comfort. Each session, which may last from 45 minutes to an hour, provides information on a different segment of safety measures that can influence the ability to remain independent.

Pandemic Flu Preparedness

Programs focus on the history of pandemics; way that families can prepare for an outbreak. Learning how to avoid spreading the disease will help us minimize the predicted impact of the pandemic flu on our families and on our community.
